He saw her surrounded. The drooling, ravening beasts were circling her as she held them off with a smile and her wit. Oh, he understood how they were drawn by her light but it still appalled him. He
watched as they gathered closer, preparing to go in for the kill.
  
He would save her.
  
He would leap in with his strong hands and his ready words, be her knight, her champion. Defend her until he turned to dust.
  
He moved forward and looked into her eyes, reaching out his hand.
  
"Miss Adams, may I have the honour of this dance?"
