He scribbled away madly as if the fate of world rested upon his prose. Yes, that was a good word. No, scrap that one. Need a more descriptive declaration. Perhaps this will do? Yes! No. Aha! That’s it exactly. Oh, perfect. He smiled proudly at his conception, then lifted the papers to his lips for a loving kiss.
From behind, he heard his mother. “What are you up to, my darling William?”
His gentle face turned toward her. “Creating life, mother. Creating life.”
For words were the only children he would ever produce.
