Better Late Than Never

The town imploded, and life went on.  She was no longer fettered with words such as “only”, “one”, “chosen”, and “duty”.  Her life was finally her own.  Ironically, her friends had scattered like autumn leaves in the breeze.  Dawn went off to school and never looked back.  They all met on the rare holiday.

Often, her thoughts turned to the past, reaching out to remember what it was like to be surrounded with friends, and love, and the feeling of “home”.  That feeling had eluded her for the past 16 years...

...until she heard a voice from behind.  “’Lo, luv.”
