Quantum Oink

Author: Deanna B.
Author's Note: I was looking through some old files, and I came across the beginnings of a QL/Gordo fic that I started writing last year when Tara first put out the challenge, dated September 26, 2002. I got called away from the 'puter, and when I finally got back, hours later, the muse had left, and then I eventually forgot about it. But this is what little I wrote (which was probably going to be rewritten anyway).

My world is suddenly very large and white.

Where am I? How did I get here? I was on my Girl's bed, and now I'm in this strange world where a man with large eyes is looking at me as if he's never seen a plush pig before.

Suddenly, a man with short fur comes running in, banging something in his hand that looks like Brown Fur's Gametoy.

"Okay, Gooshie, who is he this time?" Short Fur stopped hitting the Gametoy and looked at me. "And why is he sitting so still? Did Sam leap into someone who's comatose or catatonic?"

Leaping into a cat?? Oh my, that's never a good idea. My Girl had to stitch me back up after I fell off the bed and landed on Miss Kitty Fantastico. Cats have sharp things on their hooves.

And my Girl has shoes that she says are "Gooshie," but Large Eyes doesn't look anything like a shoe. Very strange.

Large Eyes sighed. "You're not going to like this, Al." Owl? He's an owl? "Sam is a stuffed pig." Ooh! Where is he? I'd like to meet another pig.

"You mean he's not moving because he ate too much, or are we talking barnyard taxidermy here?"

"Neither. He's a plush toy."

"What???" Short Fur got very loud. "He's an inanimate object?"

Inanimate? Does that mean he doesn't like watching cartoons? How could anyone not like cartoons? My Girl used to bring me downstairs every Saturday when she was little to watch with her. Sometimes she'd laugh and cereal would slosh out of her bowl and spill on me, but I didn't mind.

I miss that. Oink.

Short Fur shook his head and looked down at his Gametoy. "Sunnydale, California, November 2002. Right, I'm off."

Bother...er, email the author to write the rest!
