(or Angelus Sired Spike)

Enlightening the fans of Buffy, one nutjob at a time!

Nice acronym, Mom
-Buffy, "Gingerbread"

The Reasons

1-6 contributed by Anez, 7-8 by Dare

1) We've been told that Spike was "barely 200" in School
Hard, and we know for certain how old Dru is from
'Becoming' where we see her with Angel in 1860 --
Making her a lot less two hundred.

2)  Spike actually *said* to Angel in 'School Hard' "You were my sire".

3) When Dru is mentioned in 'Lie to me', after Giles had looked her up,
she was referred to as "a sometime paramour of Spike's" -- *not*
     as his sire.

4) Otherwise, the Spike/Dru relationship is not half as interesting,
because if she *was* his sire, then he sort of has a responsibility
to look after her when she's ill, it's not half as poignant, and it detracts
from the characters if he's only doing it out of some sire/child obligation.

5) It makes the Spike/Angel relationship so much more interesting as well,
and leaves so much more room for fanfic, flashbacks etc. If Angel wasn't
    Spike's sire then:
              a) why did he say he was, and
              b) why does he let him get away with so much?

6) Just... because. It makes the show better, and we all know that Joss
partakes in the monkey crack occasionally. So far, there's been nothing
canon to indicate that Dru was Spike's sire. Personally, I believe that
Spike was made first, Dru after. Some people go with the theory that Dru
is older -- either way, everything makes a great deal more sense if you
believe that Angel Sired Spike.

7) Buffy is first and foremost, a television show. Thus, only the information on
the actual SHOW should be taken as canon. No matter how much fun it might
be to collect the Watcher's Guide, and the magazine, the primary purpose of
such things is to MAKE MONEY. While they do take interest in the show, these
are just people who are writers, looking for a job wherever they can. There are
NUMEROUS mistakes made in each issue- Spike's car has been incorrectly listed,
for instance. Besides, their main focus seems to be on the trendiness of Buffy- articles
concerning the hair, clothing, and music from the show are prevalent in every issue.
Also, the magazine is not the be all, end all of Buffy- the show is. Five million people
watch the show... five million people do not buy the magazine.

8) The posting board- apparently it was said there that Dru was Spike's sire. By Joss.
For those who don't know, Joss often likes to post incorrect information on the posting
board. Because he posted this when Spike and Dru first came to the show, it is entirely
possible and highly likely that he posted something incorrectly in order to get the fans
talking about the new villains on the show- discussion brings ratings, and ratings are good.
Joss has also posted stuff about goats being critical on Buffy episodes, so there ya go-
proof definitive that not everything posted should be taken as truth.
